Vale De Pinta Golf

Vale De Pinta Golf CourseSituated near Carvoeiro in an old olive grove, Vale da Pinta is a championship course which is, nevertheless, adaptable to all playing levels. Designed by Ronald Fream, who, true to North American golfing concepts, created wide, deep greens protected by 59 similarly sized bunkers.

The course difficulty is flexible, as each hole has five sets of tees for different handicaps. Since September 1996 the development has also housed the David Leadbetter Golf Academy, the fifth bearing the legendary British golf guru's name in Europe.

Pro Tips

Vale De Pinta Golf CourseSet on undulating land, not far from Carvoeiro, Vale da Pinta (along with Gramacho) is the work of course designer, Ronald Fream who when he saw the land he declared it "God given" for golf.
All the par 4s & 5s are dog-legs to some degree or another, emphasising the requirement for accuracy of drives.
The introduction to the course is via 3 par 4s. The 4th is a magnificent par 5. You will need an accurate drive - to the marker post - to avoid the area of rough on the right and out of bounds on the left. The 2nd shot is over land which slopes steeply away downhill. There is a bunker at the foot of the hill which comes into play for a full shot. The fairway is extremely narrow there. The green is well bunkered, 2 tired and lightening fast. The 5th is great par 3, Vale De Pinta Golf Coursethe green is way down below the tee, making clubbing a nightmare. There are deep bunkers on the left and a lake to the right and behind, not to mention the wind. The par 4, 14th (336m) plays over a lake to the far side of which there is a long bunker. The safe tee shot is to the right of the water of this slight dog-leg. With a probable sloping lie a good shot will put you on the green.
The last hole is again a par 5 - about 581m. It´s a very long 3 shots to the green. there's out of bounds to the right and rough on the left. Ironically, the 2nd shot must flirt with the bunkers and treesto your left if you've thought about the 3rd approach shot. If the wind is against you, a long iron or a wood may be needed. The green itself isn't exactly easy; a par here is really a good score.
