Quinta Do Lago Golf North

Set in the exclusive tourist complex of Quinta do Lago, the Ria Formosa course - a nature reserve rich in flora and fauna - presents somehat different challenges to the golfer than the somewhat similar Quinta do Lago course. The course has four magnificent par 5 holes, the par 4's are generally dog-legs (except the 10th and 13th), and the par 3's are heavily influenced by the wind and require very accurate shots. The lakes at the 13th and 18th make returning a good score a challenge. Apart from the par 3's, nearly every hole has a form of dog-leg - some quite severe, others just hinting a curve. what they have in common is that they demand accuracy from the drives to achieve the best results from the second shots.

The course was designed by several architects : William Mitchell was responsible for the opening five holes and the 15th to the 18th, while Joseph Lee and Rocky Roquemore designed the course from the 6th to the 14th. Pro Tips.

Pro Tips.

The 1st is a 367m par 4. The majestic pines impede a direct drive towards the green. The right side of the fairway sets up and ideal position. The green is ample and although it is protected by bunkers, you can get away with a running approach.
The course flows between the magnificent umbrella pine sand houses of Quinto Do Lago, which can be distraction. The par 4 tenth has exotic gardens to its left imposing an out of bounds penalty of the elevated tee. The fairway is cut by deep valleys in front of the tee and green. Driving towards an elevated plateau just right of a strategic bunker in front of the green. Anything short will, of course, be pretty sure to find it. This is a delightful hole and a par here is very satisfying.
The 12th is probably the most interesting hole. It is a severe left-handed dog-leg. The huge lake on the left and the distant bunkers encourage a long drive. The safest approach is to use a mid iron on the fairway. Then you play over the lake. The green is generous and has a bank at the back.
The finishing hole is a majestic 480m par. The drive, over water to the landing area, opens up the dog-leg to the right. The second shot will usually reach the base of the hill. The green above is seriously stepped. Depending on the flag position, putting can be a nightmare. If you landed beyond the pin, you're looking back downhill, maybe back off the green. If you're short, it's more than likely the ball will roll back anyway.

The Clube de Golfe has a private lounge, meeting & presentation area within the
clubhouse. Extensive locker room area and reception on the lower floor. Roving
buggies provide on-course refreshments.
