The Playa Serena Golf Club was opened in 1979. The course, designed by Angel Gallardo and Peter Allis is known as the flattest course in Spain. Sitting 500 metres back from the sea front at El Solanillo. It has wide fairways, 9 lakes and greens defended by bunkers, but its major difficulties are its long holes and the design of the greens. The course is in excellent condition year-round. It has hosted several national circuit trials. The Playa Serena course has undergone maintenance work during 2007 and is even better than before.
This true links course bears winds from both the east and west, so golfers take your shots with accuracy. The greens are small, sloping and mainly protected bunkers adding to the challenge and accuracy of the game. Twelve of the greens are not only sloping, they have water features, so chose your shots carefully.
