Pinheiros Altos Golf

Bordering the dazzling Nature Park of Ria Formosa, the natural habitat of numerous migratory birds, the Pinheiros Altos course is unusually and highly original, with two sets of nine holes with completely opposing characteristics. The forward nine are over rolling terrain, with sandy subsoil and gentle pines, the shorter back nine runs through gentle hills and abundant lakes.

Since its opening, the course has become a preferred pre-season practice ground for many of todays' top professional golfers. They are aware of the large practice ground which includes three putting greens, bunker and chipping areas and several greens.Pro Tips.

With 2 distinctly differing 9s, Pinheiros Altos provides a real golfing challenge, where "brain" is infinitely better than "brawn". The first 9 wend its way over and through pine clad countryside. the second 9 drops down to a valley bottom with lakes. Of the 4 par 3s, it's hard to determine which offers the most challenge. Probably this distinction lies with the 159m 5th. An accurate tee shot is essential to carry a deep valley onto an elevated green. The island green of the 124m par 3 - 17th provides an intimidating perspective, with water all around and a wind factor.
The stroke index 11 third hole - although not very long at 313m, is all uphill.Pines demand an accurate tee shot. The second shot is always from an uphill lie. Club selection and flight path is tricky.
The 12th, a par 5, has all the ingredients of a great hole. The tee shot must be accurate, a draw here would be ideal for a lake on the left and bunkers down the right favour such a shot. Thereafter this 450m hole continues to demands concentration, since bunkers and lake also influence the 2nd shot. The approach to a tricky green rewards the bold player. Hesitate and your sure to find the one of the numerous hazards which lie in wait.
