This 18 hole course is one of the newest course to open in the Algarve -2003. Lying to the north of Portimão it is laid out in a large 980 hectare estate through undulating small valleys.
A further 18 hole course is already in the planning stage.
The immediate main characteristic factor is its large greens which place demand on good putting skills. Also, the accuracy of the player's shot will be questioned by deep aggressive bunkers.
The first 9 holes are relatively benign - undulating, with lakes or steams inter-connecting them; the second 9 are more hilly with many of the hazards created by natural contours of the land. Through out the greens are generous and, above all, true. By the par 5 third you should have a clear impression of what this course is about - it's a tough hole. There seems to be a decent landing area for the drive, but a hidden tongue of water from the lake on the left encroaches. A daunting cross bunker awaits a poorly struck 2nd shot and there are more of those guardian traps at the green side. Even when relief apparently comes with a short par 4, 282m at the 9th, bunkers gaurd the left side of the fairway, the land kicks off right and no clear line is evident. As the back 9 climb away from the clubhouse, the par 3 eleventh 166m is not nearly as long as the 2 par 3s on the front 9. Don't be fooled - you must carry the slope and be conscious that the green slopes left to right. All the par 4s are tough. 14 is yet another hole another demanding example, a slight dog-leg right, with a lake to the left. Go for a mid-iron shot off the tee for safety and you're still face a tight second shot to the green.
The par 5 sixteenth has a good wide fairway but still there are those traps and the green nestles away in the corner at the foot of a mound to its rear.
