BoaVista Golf

Boavista Golf Club offers superb facilities in a uniquely sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere and is already attracting people from all over the world. This impressive 18 Hole Championship golf course was designed by Howard Swan MSc, a past president of The European Institute of Golf Course Architects. His philosophy - to create a course as if it has always been there - has been sensitively applied at Boavista, preserving, integrating and harmonizing with the area's natural terrain.

With two distinctive sections the course offers a variety of holes commencing with the welcoming first hole, a meandering downhill par 4, bordered by beautiful sub-tropical landscaping leading to harmoniously designed properties.

The signature hole on the outward nine is the stunning par 4, 7th hole set against a glorious backdrop of the Atlantic ocean with exhilarating panoramic views extending from Praia da Luz round to with the hills at Monchique creating a spectacular backdrop.Pro Tips

The opening hole gently slopes away downhill and a generous fairway instils a sense of well-being increased by views over lakes and tumbling waterfalls but this is no time for bemusement - this is all part of the course designer's art. The par 3 second green is heavily protected by bunkers and olive trees. The 3rd begins to show who is the boss - it's a par 5, with a drive uphill. the line of the 2nd shot is critical as the fairway narrows and intrusive trees may influence the line. The par 3 sixth at 190m across a chasm to a severely stepped green must be a contender for the signature hole.
The 7th and 8th enjoy spectacular views along the Western Algarve coastline. The par 5 eighth is bisected by a deep ravine. A good drive still puts premium on the 2nd shot. The 16th tee is the highest point of the course but it is not until you address the ball for your 2nd shot that the panorama really manifests itself. This par 5, 505m hole is stunning. The 18th is a tough closing hole, an uphill par 4, dog-leg right. Strategic bunkers and distance-confusing contours make it a delight.
